1 Timothy 2:1–2
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.”
Paul makes a powerful statement here. Every one of us is in need of prayer, regardless of position. It is our duty as Christians to pray for our leaders that they may be the righteous right hand of God.
Psalm 72:1-4

Matthew 20:25-28
“But Jesus called them to him and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It will not be so among you, but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave, just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many.’”
Jesus calls leaders of the church, and those who come in His name, to a higher standard. A standard of servant leadership. Pray for the servant leaders in your church, so that they may set the standard for the body of Christ.

Lord God, I ask you to bring a spirit of great endurance for our church leaders. Let their spiritual gifts be a blessing to our church and the community, and let us also be a blessing to them. Please help our leaders to lean not on their own understanding, but to seek you for both wisdom and refuge.
Finally, heavenly father, let our leaders show an example of your virtues. Of God’s grace, of humility, love, peace, patience, kindness, and gentleness. And let us go forth under their leadership, knowing that the mighty hand of God is guiding their every step. Amen.

Philippians 2:3-4
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests but to the interests of others.”

Hebrews 6:10
“For God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.”
It’s not always easy to serve. We may get tired, burnt out (that’s a whole other post!), and even resentful at times. But this is a powerful reminder for us as servants to the Lord. We are not forgotten, and our service is an act of love, to which we are called.

Psalm 46:1

Isaiah 41:10

1 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.”
I mean, that was a mouthful, but the point stands. God consoles us so that we may take the strength and wisdom from our hard times and console others.
